The ears are high set, folded back like a greyhound. Coat colors include shades of blue gray, gray, yellow and sandy red or red fawn and brindle and black, sometimes with black ears and muzzle. There is sometimes a little white on the chest, paws and tail.

behavior

The Deerhounds are very well mannered and affectionate. They are loving and good with children. They are very diginified and loyal and are friendly with anyone. This is a good trait to have but not if you are looking for a watchdog because they will befriend anyone, even strangers. They are very active and need to be taken for a long walk everyday. DO not let them off your leash (unless trained properly) because they will obey their instincts and start chasing off every moving thing they see.
